Reading Between the Wines

What happens when atmospheric hill country crime-fiction meets 100% Texas-grown wines? Find out at our next Reading Between the Wines. Local author Jeff Kerr, creator of the Adam Cash Mystery Series, will talk about his collection of modern whodunits set in the rugged Texas Hill Country. The wine pairing for the evening features 100% Texan wines from Terra Trails, known for flavors that truly taste like home. Come on out for good company, great conversation, and local flavor.
Creating a Native Seed Library

Discover how seed libraries connect communities and protect local ecosystems. Craig Bruska, Chair of the Native Seed Committee for the Native Plant Society of Texas, will give a presentation on how seed libraries work. Come and learn how you can be a part of creating Blanco County's first free seed library: the BLANCO LIBRARY SEED EXCHANGE.

Join the Native Plant Society of Texas, Blanco Woman's Club, and our founding contributors for the official opening of the Blanco Library Seed Exchange. Come and learn how the seed exchange works, see what species are available, meet local folks from the conservation community, and take some seeds home for free!
The Extraordinary Caterpillar
Saturday, October 10, 10 AM - 12 PM
Caterpillars, monarchs, birds, and the dazzling little creatures that make nature extraordinary take center stage in this all-ages event! Start with a Caterpillar Walk and Monarch Watch in the Paradise Creek Pocket Meadow, then head to the library for a screening of the must-see documentary The Extraordinary Caterpillar, movie munchies, and a panel discussion with surprise guests from the local conservation community. Free admission for nature lovers of all ages!

Weekly Storytime
Storytime is an early literacy program primarily for children from birth to preschool age (0-5 years) to encourage them to develop habits that foster a lifetime love of reading and learning. Children of all ages are welcome!

Blanco Library Seed Exchange
Notice to all naturalists, gardeners, and curious passerby...
The Blanco Library is building a living archive of seeds gathered from gardens, fields, prairies, and roadsides throughout the ecoregion we call home. Each seed represents generations of adaptation, resilience, and careful stewardship. Together, they preserve the botanical heritage of our community for generations to come.
